Disneyland Paris Live: The 50th Anniversary & New Ambassadors Report
This live report comes from Jane Fielding (@Pixie_Dust99), who was in Disneyland Paris yesterday to see all the action go down with the new ambassador ceremony.
The 50th annual ceremony to announce the next Disneyland Paris Ambassador team took place today at Videopolis Theatre. The stage was set with a very fitting live back drop of La Place de Remy and golden 50th Ambassador logos. As the audience started to be seated it was clear that all of the finalists had their own family and friends attending. Rut Sospedra (Reception Disneyland Hotel) had a team with hand made posters, Anthony Houdinet (Labor Management) a sea of chef hats and Ratatouille theme signs “Anyone can cook”, Sonia Demay (Developement Produit) was accompanied by a team of Minnie balloons and finally Romina Grochow (Castle Club) with a large group of gold balloons and Mickey hands.
The ceremony was opened with a short performance involving dancers “fighting” over a Bistrot Chez Remy menu and performing the Can Can. The current Ambassadors Antonella Giallombardo and Jonathan Rabeute hosted the ceremony and the audience were treated to video footage of the history of the Ambassador programme and good luck messages to the finalists from the other Ambassador teams around the world.
Tom Wolber, the new CEO of Disneyland Paris, was introduced on stage and made a short speech where he announced he was “glad to be back at Disneyland Paris after 20 years away”. He also thanked Antonella and Jonathan for all their hard work over the last 2 years.
With all the finalists on stage Linguini made a short comical appearance on his push bike to clumsily hand over the winners envelope, a Bistrot Chez Remy menu. It was left to Tom Wolber to make the announcement that the new ambassador team for 2014-2015 was Romina Grochow and Sonia Demay.
There was a standing ovation for the new ambassadors who both received flowers from Mickey and Minnie, their new badges and the shower of golden confetti.
The whole ceremony definitely had elements taken from the opening ceremony for La Place de Remy, which would have been a large part of the current ambassadors’ past year. Antonella Giallombardo and Jonathan Rabeute have been the warm friendly faces of Disneyland Paris and we thank them for doing such a great job.
Good luck to both Romina Grochow and Sonia Demay, you have a very exciting year ahead.
Dedicated to DLP would like to thank Jane for this great report and join her in congratulating Romani and Demay.
