Disneyland Paris Restaurant Review: Au Chalet de la Marionnette Bavarian Hot Dog with Currywurst Sauce

I usually write a little more in my restaurant reviews, and have a plethora of photos to accompany the words, but for this one it’s all about one photo, and one dish. You see, for some time now I’ve loved the hot dogs in Au Chalet de la Marionnette (nicknamed Pinocchios by some), and thanks also in part to the decrease in quality of the food in Casey’s Corner, it’s been my place to go for a hot dog in Disneyland Paris. I’m not sure when, but a little while go they added something extra, that being Currywurst sauce. The only problem is that on my last few trips I forgot to go and try one, choosing first time visits to places like Cowboy Cookout Barbecue and Toad Hall instead. Well I put that right 2 weeks ago, but how was this now infamous pork based Fantasyland treat?

Disneyland Paris Restaurant Review: Au Chalet de la Marionnette Bavarian Hot Dog with Currywurst Sauce

First off, you don’t get short changed in Au Chalet de la Marionnette, as the hot dogs are very big, and the bun is not just a soft roll, that’s a tasty patterned feast in itself. The hot dog was as delicious as ever, but what about that sauce? Very nice, and not too spicy as I was a little worried it may be. It’s not that I don’t like spicy food, but I’m just not sure a hot dog is the right place for firey mouth burning suaces. It’s full of flavour with enough of a kick to feel its presence, but not too much to overlaod the taste buds. This Bavarian Ho -Dog with Currywurst Sauce lived up the legend that I’d built up in my mind.

The photo doesn’t do it justice, but the chips were plentiful to say the least, and after polishing them all off after my hot dog I was pretty stuffed. My choice was a Menu 1 so didn’t come with a dessert, and I’m not sure I had room for one anyway! At €12,99 and including a drink, this was one counter service meal that felt very much like value for money, within the realms of Disneyland Paris anyway, and especially with Annual Passport discount. Au Chalet de la Marionnette is beautifully decorated with wood carvings and wall paintings, and although I didn’t on this occasion take many photos, I did manage one shot of this lovely light – hey, what did you expect?

Au Chalet de la Marionnette in Disneyland Paris

I’d most definitely go back to Au Chalet de la Marionnette, and that Bavarian Hot Dog with Currywurst Sauce has planted itself firmly in my top 5 things to eat in Disneyland Paris. Now there’s a list I most formulate and share with all of you.
