Posted just an hour ago from DisneylandBerry is the news that Animagique will close in 2015. We don’t have any more details, and although DisnelandBerry is a very reliable source, until confirmed by Disneyland Paris themselves, it remains a rumour.
2015 will be the last year to enjoy of Animagique, a unique show, in the Walt Disney Studios Park

So what do I think of this? Well I do really like Animagique, but it always sends me to sleep. That’s not because I find it boring, in fact I love the blacklight technology used, and combined with classic scenes from beloved films it seems to be a favourite for all ages that rarely sees anything but a packed theatre. It’s just very hypnotic for me, and usually quite tired from hectic days in the parks, I do find my self drifting off.
So as much as I like it when I can stay awake, I guess an attraction that I could actually enjoy in it’s entirety would be better. I asked my wife what she thought, and she said that’s really sad, it’s a classic. and my 6 year old son Lucas said ohh noo, I like that. I pushed Lucas for further information and asked if replaced with something cool like Spider-man would that be okay? He said yes or Iron man or Thor, but when I asked if he was okay with Animagique going once again, he said no.
It does seem strange that a show that packs the crowds in, performance after performance, day after day, is set to close. Maybe it’s very costly to put on, or maybe they want something more modern that they can market, should they decide to actually do that. I’m not sure we need to have everything featuring bang up to date franchises and characters – we don’t want to lose sight of how it all began, and with the removal of Animagique there will be very little to remind people of what Disney was built on.
Right next door we have CineMagique which also looks back at the classics, but for the most part it’s live action films, and not all of them are even Disney properties. So what will they put in it’s place, and will it be a show of the same ilk? It would be a shame to lose the use of blacklight, as it makes Animagique stand out from all other shows. But I can’t see them replacing it with something similar, would they not just update the scenes, like they have done previously? Maybe Lucas was being prophetic in his on the spot reaction, and maybe Marvel will take it’s place? I’d think the likes of Iron Man and Thor would be better suited for Armageddon and Tram Tour overlays, more than a show.
I guess all we can do at this point is speculate, wildly. So now it’s over to you – will you miss Animgique when it goes, and what would you like to see take its place and what do you think will take its place – two quite different answers maybe.
