Dedicated to DLP TV #30: Disneyland Paris Reinvent The Magic – Discussing The 10 Attraction Updates

Yesterday Disneyland Paris announced plans to update and refurbish 10 attractions in both Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios over the next 24 months. In this latest Dedicated to DLP TV I decided to talk through each one of them, giving my thoughts on what was announced and what this could mean. I hadn’t read most of these updates before doing the video, so it’s pretty much my live reaction to the news.

I’d love to know your thoughts on all of this, both what was announced officially by Disneyland Paris, and what I went on to say, so please leave a comment so I can discuss your reaction and ideas on a future episode of Dedicated to DLP TV.

    1. I never go on Space Mountain so that doesnt bother me but I love looking at it.
    2. When I was younger I was lucky enough to experience Jedi Training Academy in Florida. It was one of my favourite experiences in a Disney Park. It will bring some live entertainment to the park and it fits better in Discoveryland than Lion King did. Even though I loved Lion King.
    3. A new facade to it’s a small world!?! I think all it needs is to be washed and painted but not an entire new facade. As for the characters in the ride, I’ve seen videos from other parks and I think they fit in fine. They aren’t in every scene and they aren’t in your face.
    4. DLP has the best Thunder Mountain out of all Disney parks but after some of the others got new enhancements they are very good. I think this will be a great addition.
    5. Only on my last trip to DLP did I do the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. It was great seeing the park from up high. You mentioned Tarzan and the treehouse in California was changed to Tarzans Treehouse. I hope this doesn’t happen here.
    6. Peter Pans Flight is kind of bumpy so hopefully they could make the ride smoother. Other parks have recently got an interactive queue andn it loks awesome.
    7. Pirates of the Caribbean with characters just adds to the experience. As with small world, they are not in every scene. And selfie sticks have been banned on the rides. Although this may not stop some people.
    8. I love Animagique. Maybe they could do alternative French and English shows. I hope they keep the black light technology.
    9. As you said in your article, seeing Star Wars or The Avengers in the Tram Tours would be a great bonus. I don’t even know what Dinotopia is. Last time I rode it a man in front of me was very happy to see the Jurassic Park set!?!
    10. Having rode Star Tours: The Adventures Continue in Florida and coming back to Paris and riding the original was sad. I love the pod racing section, Hoth and the Wookies.

I thought Phantom Manor was in the list and it would include more about the story.
    Thanks for reading. 🙂

Refurbs overall sound exciting but very nerve-wracking!
Not very keen on Disney introducing characters to Pirates of the Carribean or Small World but I do prefer that original Disney flavour where not everything is covered in characters. I think these attractions just need a bit of a clean and an update on the technology and that’ll be enough. I actually love Tram Tours but was very unimpressed on my last trip where the track was diverted and scenes were skipped so if they fix problems like that, I’ll forgive them for adding Cars

I’m sure once they add the Cars part I’ll love it. Hey, anything is better than what it has turned into these days, so I shouldn’t complain!

Great to have you back Steve!!!

Bit sad to hear about BTM being closed for so long, when I went to California on my honeymoon it was also closed for a massive refurb so I clearly don’t have much luck with this ride! Sure the improvements will be great though.

The changes to the carriages on Space Mountain are well overdue, I love that ride but the last few times I have been I have only been able to ride it once per visit as it gave me such a headache, and very sore shoulders!

Thanks for keeping us up to date!

    • Steve says:

Thanks Jem – good to be back 🙂

If you are fault for Big Thunder Mountain closing for such a long term, then I should thank you really, as I have said I’ll rider it when it opens again, and I have quite a while to get myself ready – so thanks 😉
